A PENSIONER was assaulted and robbed in a shocking attack outside her own home.

The 80-year-old had entered the stairwell of her flat in the capital when two men ran in and pushed her to the ground.

They grabbed her handbag before running away, leaving her lying on the floor.

A passer-by came to the woman’s aid and called the police.

The attack happened at 9.35pm on Friday night at her address in Home Street, opposite the Liquorice club.

A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Police said: “We are appealing for anyone who may have information about the men to come forward.”
