BREAKING NEWS: A SCOTS soldier serving with The Black Watch has been killed in Afghanistan.

The soldier, part of the 3rd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland, was on patrol with the Afghan National Army in Woqab, close to Musa Qal’eh in the southern half of the country in the notorious Helmand Province region when he was hit by gunfire.

No further details were immediately available.

Next of kin have been informed, the MoD said last night.
