IT WAS a date with destiny for one Scots couple yesterday after their son was born on the auspicious day 9/9/09.

Little baby Kyle was born at 9.11am – thought to be the closest baby born to 9.09am in Scotland .

It wasn’t easy for mum Tracey MacLachlan, 28, who had been in labour for an eye-watering 12 hours.

But she laughed: “I guess it could have been worse – he could have be born on 6/6/06.”

She added: “We didn’t think about the date at all until the midwife mentioned it this morning – I had other things on my mind.

“He was so late in coming that I was just pleased to see him.”

Kyle is the third child for teaching assistant Tracey, who has a daughter Chloe, 10, from a previous relationship and son Robbie, four, with husband Ian, 25.

“Pro”

She said: “I thought this would be easy by now – I’m a pro – but Kyle just didn’t want to come out.

“It was the hardest labour by far.”

Due on Saturday, Tracey went into St John’s Hospital in Livingston to be induced on Monday morning, but it wasn’t until Tuesday night that she actually went into labour.

Yesterday, Kyle James Edward was born a healthy 8lb 3.5oz.

Dad Ian, a scaffolder, said he was “over the moon” with the new addition to their family.

He said: “I’m just glad everything went well, I was there at the birth and am happy Tracey and Kyle are both healthy.

“We’ll be wetting the babies head on Saturday night when everyone has settled in.”

The couple, from Linlithgow, West Lothian, thanked everyone at the hospital for the care and attention they gave them.

Tracey said: “The staff on ward 10 were just fantastic – and put up with my screaming for two days.

“It’s nice to know that this is special, and this date of so unique – it won’t come around again.”
