Young boy run over twice still recovering in hospital

A YOUNG boy is recovering in hospital after being hit by TWO separate cars.

The seven-year-old was walking down Leslie High Street in Fife when he was knocked to the floor by a car.

As he lay on the road, a separate car travelling in the opposite direction ran him over.

He was rushed to the Sick Kids Hospital in Edinburgh after the incident at 5.30pm on Tuesday night.

Bright clothes

Although recovering, he was still being treated for abdominal injuries last night (Thurs) and was said to be in a lot of pain.

Fife Constabulary have said that parents need to ensure their kids are wearing bright clothing when they are walking on the roads.

Their Head of Road Safety Jane Greer said: “I would encourage parents to have their children wearing some form of bright clothing during the forthcoming winter period.

“Make sure your child can be seen easily by other road users by giving them bright and fluorescent clothing during the day and reflective clothing at night.”

In a separate incident, a 12-year-old boy was hit by a car at 8.15am on Wednesday morning in Newport-on Tay, Fife.

He was taken to Ninewells but discharged later that day.

Last night Grampian Police also reported a young boy being injured in a collision with a vehicle on Ashley Road in Aberdeen at around 3.45pm.
