Gilroy charged with murder

THE former boyfriend of missing Edinburgh office worker Suzanne Pilley has been released on bail charged with her murder.

David Gilroy, 47, appeared in private at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.

He spent just five minutes in the dock before being led away by Reliance staff.

Ms Pilley, 38, was last seen on CCTV over seven weeks ago outside her office in Thistle Street, Edinburgh, on 4 May.

The pair worked together at the capital’s Infrastructure Managers firm.

Mr Gilroy, of the city’s Silverknowes area, appeared on petition in court room three before Sheriff Deirdre MacNeill QC.

His defence agent Jim Wardlaw made no plea or declaration to the charges on Mr Gilroy’s behalf and the case was continued for further inquiry.

Fiscal depute Adrian Fraser confirmed there were no other charges against Mr Gilroy.

Speaking afterwards, defence agent Jim Wardlaw said: “My client has been served with a petition containing the allegation that he is responsible for the murder of Suzanne Pilley.

“A bail application was made on his behalf and bail was granted.”

Bookkeeper Ms Pilley was from the Stenhouse area of the capital.
