Police hunt for West Lothian sex attacker

By Oliver Farrimond

Police are hunting a sex attacker after a teenage girl was subjected to a serious sexual assault in West Lothian.

The 17-year-old girl was attacked on the B7010 Fauldhouse to Longridge just before 2am on Saturday morning.

Police have issued a description of the attacker, and are appealing for information from anyone who was at Fauldhouse Cricket Club on Friday evening.

A police spokesman said: “This has been a terrible experience for the young woman involved, and we would like to reassure that we are doing all we can to trace the person responsible.

“There will be increased patrols, but we would further appeal to anyone who may have been in the area on Friday night, and who may have seen anything unusual, to come forward.

“We are also keen to talk to anyone who may recognise the suspect, and who may have seen him, or the woman, before or after the attack.”

Police are looking for a man in his early 20s, between 5ft 10ins and 6ft tall, and of medium or athletic build with a prominent pointed nose.

The suspect was wearing a dark-coloured hoody, tracksuit bottoms with twin stripes down each leg, and may have also been wearing a hat.

Anyone with any information can contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3131, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
