Death of pub owner being treated as murder

By Amanda MacMillan

POLICE confirmed tonight that the death of a man found outside his pub is being treated as murder.

47-year-old Steven Curran, from Musselburgh, was found at the rear of his pub, the Dolphin Inn in Whitecraig at around 2am yesterday.

A murder investigation is underway, and police are reiterating their appeal for information relating to his death.

It is thought that the incident is related to a single car collision which took place on the A1 the same night.

A car – believed to be his wife Jill’s silver coloured Toyota Celecia – was discovered abandoned after colliding with a central reservation on the southbound carriageway sometime around 12.30am.

Anyone with information is urged to call Lothian and Borders Police 0131 311 3131, or Crimestoppers in confidence and complete anonymity on 0800 555 111.
