Captain Bligh Cup Auctioned

    An unusual silver cup valued at £1,500, made from a coconut shell that was used by Captain Bligh when he was set adrift, after the mutiny on the Bounty, is to be sold at auction by Lyon & Turnbull on the 30th November 2010 in Edinburgh.

    The deep coconut shell bowl with three carved panels showing a native fisherman, mother and child gathering food, and a cannibalism campfire scenes stands on a raised with the inscription ‘Cup used by Capt Bligh in the launch after the Mutinity on HMS Bounty’
