Woman assaulted during attempted robbery in Edinburgh

A 35-YEAR-OLD woman was left shaken after she was assaulted during an attempted robbery in Edinburgh.

The incident happened at around 4.50pm on Monday in Brunton Terrace, near Easter Road.

A man approached the woman from behind and pushed her whilst trying to grab her bag.

Following a struggle, the man made off empty-handed towards Montgomery Street.

He is described as being between 20-30 years old with a medium build, and was wearing dark jeans, a bomber jacket and a flat cap.

Lothian and Borders Police are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.

A police spokesman said: “The woman was uninjured during this incident, but was left shaken and we are appealing for anyone who can assist us in identifying the suspect to come forward.

“Anyone who recognises his description or has any information that can help with our enquiries is asked to contact police immediately.”
