Police appeal for witnesses after Musselburgh stabbing

A 28-YEAR-OLD man was found lying in the street with stab wounds following an argument on Saturday night.

The man was out with friends in Musselburgh, East Lothian, when a row is said to have broken out with another man and woman who were not part of the group.

He was discovered at around 9.45pm at Fisher’s Wynd, with “puncture wounds”, before being taken to hospital.

His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Police are treating the attack as attempted murder, and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

In particular, they are keen to trace a woman who was seen in the area at the time, who is described as being in her mid-20s, about 5ft 9ins tall and with shoulder-length straight black hair.

A police spokesman said: “We are appealing for anyone who was in the area of Fisher’s Wynd, North High Street or New Street about 9.45pm on Saturday night to come forward if they witnessed the incident or saw anything suspicious.

“Similarly, we would like to trace the woman we know was in the area at the time and would ask her, or anyone who recognises the description, to come forward.”
