A team of six soldiers from The Black Watch, 3rd Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland (3 SCOTS) are preparing to begin a gruelling 1750 miles charity cycle through some of Europe’s toughest terrain to raise money for service charities.

The challenge ‘Exercise Tartan Casino’ will begin on Friday 18th March 2011 when the team flies out to Monte Cassino in Italy to start their 14 day trip.  They will travel through four countries; Italy, Switzerland, France and the UK, passing through Rome, Paris, London and Edinburgh cycling 125 miles per day. The journey will end at the Regimental Headquarters at Edinburgh Castle.

The team aim to raise around £50,000 for service charities: Help for Heroes, Erskine House, The Royal Regiment of Scotland Association and The Black Watch Association.
