By Claire Cameron

A GIRL aged 13 was threatened with a knife by a street attacker

The teenager was in the Clermiston area of Edinburgh when she was approached from behind.

She was pushed to the ground by the man, believed to be aged between 20 and 30 years old.

However, she managed to struggle free and run away.

A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Police said:

“Fortunately the young girl was not injured in this incident, but she has been left understandably shaken as a result of this. “

The attacker is described as being 6ft tall. He was wearing a dark hoodie with the hood up, and has rotten teeth and a gaunt face. He speaks with a Scottish accent.

Police are currently following several lines of enquiry in connection with the attack, but are keen for any witnesses to come forward.

The spokesman added:

“We are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area at the time, and who saw what happened, to contact police.

“In addition, we would be keen to hear from anyone who may recognise the description of the suspect. “
