Sex addict attacker to work in the community

Self confessed sex addict Shannon Flynn

A SELF-confessed sex addict has been sentenced to community service after admitting attacking a bouncer outside an Edinburgh nightspot.

Shannon Flynn hit the headlines last year after she confessed that she was prone to violence if her boyfriend did not satisfy her in the bedroom.

The 27-year-old appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today for sentencing after she admitted spitting on, and kicking, a bouncer during a night out.

The former beautician, who claims to have slept with at least 70 men, pleaded guilty to the offence last month.

At court today, Flynn appeared wearing a dark beige blazer, a white top, pearls, artfully torn blue jeans, and brown, knee-high boots.

Her solicitor, James Stewart, told the court: “Ms Flynn  has remained away from the police and has not acted violently since the incident occurred in 2010.”

Sheriff Isabella McColl sentenced Shannon to a total of eighty hours of community service over a period of six months due to begin immediately

Flynn gave no outward reaction to the sentence and refused to comment when she left the court.

At the previous hearing,  Flynn admitted attacking door steward Bulen Aksoy, by spitting on his face and kicking him on the body.

Her victim was injured as a result of the attack on October 28, outside Garibaldis in Edinburgh.

Fiscal depute Robert Freeland said the assault happened just after midnight.

The bouncer declined medical attention, he added.

Defence agent James Stewart said Flynn was currently living with her mother.  “Alcohol was involved” in provoking the attack, he said.

Flynn spoke out about her sex addiction after revelations about Tiger Woods’ sex life emerged last year.

Speaking outside court last month Flynn said the attack on the bouncer was not related to her sex addiction, but her problems with alcohol.

She added: “I had a sex addiction. It’s related to alchohol. The sex addiction only came out when I was drunk. But I’ve calmed down now.”

Flynn said she was now takes tablets three times a week, which make her sick when she has a drink.

She said that speaking out about her addiction has helped her battle her demons.

She said that she was prone to acting violently with her former partner if he did not meet her demands.

She said: “I go to counselling once a week now.  And I’ve not got a boyfriend. When we were together I think he was more the girl and I was more the guy. I’m staying away from men. This year’s my year.”

Last year she confessed that even after she had sex with ex-partner, banker Jamie Thexton, in the morning, she was still hungry for love when he came home at night.

She demanded sex at least four times a day and became moody, and even violent, if she was not satisfied, she said.

She claimed to have slept with 70 men over the last 10 years, including several one-night stands and casual affairs.

She said if she was unable to satisfy her sexual desires the withdrawal symptoms were horrendous.

She said: “Hardly anyone can understand what I am going through on a daily basis. Every hour of every day, all I can think about is sex.”

During an interview last year she admitted throwing  a mobile phone at one lover after he denied her sex. “I’m not usually violent, but my desire for sex takes over all my senses,” she added.
