Pensioner hospitalised after being hit by a car

AN ELDERLY woman is in a serious condition in hospital after being hit by a car in Edinburgh.

The 85-year-old was crossing the road on Oxgangs Farm Drive at around 1pm today (fri) when she was hit by a blue Kia Picanto.

She was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh where her condition is described as a serious but stable.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the incident.

A police spokesperson said “This was a serious incident where an elderly woman sustained significant injuries.

“The area would have been busy at the time with both cars and pedestrians, and we would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident, or who recognises the description of the woman or vehicle involved.”
