The man's death is being treated as unexplained

POLICE are investigating after the body of a man was found in a city street.

The 67-year-old was found in Gillespie Crescent in the Viewforth area of Edinburgh at around 7am on Sunday.

Officers are treating the death as “unexplained and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Details of the man’s identity have not been released by police.

A spokeswoman for Lothian and Borders Police said: “We are currently investigating after a body of a 67-year-old man was found in the street in Gillespie Crescent, Edinburgh in the early hours of Sunday, January 8.

“Enquiries are ongoing to determine the events surrounding the death, which is being treated as unexplained.”
