Police hunt man who tried to get schoolgirl into his car

Police say the girl was upset by the incident

A MAN who tried to lure a schoolgirl into his car is being hunted by police.

The 12-year-old was walking home in Kelloholm, Dumfries and Galloway at around 8.30pm on Friday when she was approached.

The man, believed to be in his 40s, stopped his dark blue vehicle at the junction of Birkburn Road and Auchengower Drive and ordered her to get in, shouting and swearing at her.

The girl ran off to her grandparents, who lived nearby and was left very upset by the incident.

The driver of the car was alone and spoke with a Scottish accent.

He is described as white, with short dark hair and was wearing dark clothing.
