Man dies in Borders crash

The 24-year-old succumbed to his injuries

A MAN has died following a car crash in the Borders.

The 24-year-old was driving a Citreon Saxo on the A7 north of Galashiels when it collided with a Skoda Octavia at around 5.20pm.

The drivers of both cars were taken to the Borders General Hospital by ambulance, but the Citreon driver later died.

The driver of the Skoda sustained minor injuries and was kept in overnight for observation.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the crash to come forward.

They are particularly keen to speak to three occupants of a works vehicle, possibly a flatbed van, who stopped to help before emergency services arrived.
