A MAN has been arrested following one of the biggest drugs busts in the history of Lothian and Borders Police.

The force, the second biggest in Scotland, found £200,000 of drugs after stopping a car near West Linton in the Scottish Borders.

Officers found more than 100kg of cannabis and 5kg of the stimulant methedrone stashed inside the Vauxhall Astra.

A 26-year-old man is scheduled to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court in connection with alleged drug offences on Monday, February 27.

A police spokesman said: “This is one of the largest drug recoveries in the Force’s history and was made possible thanks to intelligence received from the public.

“Intelligence is essential in combating crime and ensuring that drugs meant for our communities are seized by police.”
