Man threatened with knife in attempted robbery

A MAN was threatened with a knife during an attempted robbery in a city street.

The 17-year-old was walking in the Craigleith area of Edinburgh when he was attacked.

He was approached by a man on Craigleith Hill Road near to the junction with Queensferry Road at around 1.50am on Sunday.

The suspect punched and kicked the victim before threatening him with a knife and attempting to steal his wallet.

Lothian and borders police are now looking to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident, in particular the member of the public who stopped to help the victim.

The suspect is described as white, 35-39 years old, average height with a heavy build. He had very short grey hair or was bald and had a local Edinburgh accent. He was wearing a dark coloured t-shirt, with short sleeves.
