Man charged in connection with alleged assault and robbery

A 22-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with an alleged assault and robbery in Edinburgh.

Officers working as part of Operation Arable – an ongoing initiative to tackle capital street crime – responded to an incident at the Bar Habana in Greenside Place on Friday, March 30.

A 34-year-old man suffered minor injuries after being punched and robbed of his wallet.

The male, who was arrested shortly after in Brunswick Street, is scheduled to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today.

Detective Chief Inspector Gary Cunningham said: “Operation Arable continues to tackle street crime across the city and anyone found to be responsible will be brought to justice.

“Our engagement with the public and the intelligence they provide us with is vital for identifying offenders and anyone who wishes to report a crime, or who has information that can assist police should contact their local policing team.”
