Police appeal following clothing theft

POLICE are hunting thieves who took clothing from a recycling centre.

The Salvation Army clothing recycling unit located at the Oakbank Community Recycling Centre in Mid Calder was forced open and the contents stolen from inside.

The theft was reported to police yesterday, however may have taken place a number of days previously.

A police spokesman said: “We are appealing to anyone who has used the recycling centre in recent days, who noticed anyone acting suspiciously in the area, to contact police.

“Similarly, anyone who has any other information that can assist our inquiries should also get in touch.

“There have been other such incidents in recent months, and we would urge anyone who notices any suspicious activity around clothing recycling units to contact police.”

Anyone with any information should contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3131, or Crimestoppers in confidence and complete anonymity on 0800 555 111.
