POLICE have recovered cannabis plants worth more than £8000 in a raid on a local house.

On Monday, May 2, following information received from the public, officers from the Burntisland Community Team carried out a raid on a local house where they found 30 cannabis plants, with an estimated value of £8100.

Local Community Officer PC Keith Gibb, who led the investigation, said: “This again demonstrates our willingness to act on information supplied by members of the public. The seizure of these plants further protects the community in which we all live and work, and makes a serious dent into the illegal activities of those wishing to make a profit out of the misery of others.

“As a result of the information we received two people are now being reported to the Procurator Fiscal for offences under the Misuse of Drugs Act.”

Sergeant Scott Murray, who is also based at Burntisland, said: “We will deal robustly with illegal drugs that plague our communities and are committed to doing so to ensure that our communities remain as safe as we can make them.  I would like to take this opportunity to ask members of the Community to let us now of concerns they have surrounding this illegal activity. They can speak with us directly on 0845 600 5702 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

  1. “Profit out of the misery of others” ?

    “plague our communities” ?

The only issue with cannabis is it’s illegality.
Research has gone beyond reason, it’s been proven cannabis is safer than both alcohol and tobacco yet it remains contraband. This codswallop about not knowing what potentially ‘toxic’ substances have been put in your cannabis and may result in death or other consequences is just a sick joke put forward to scare people away from it. Cannabis is just a plant, it grows and produces crops, what gives humans the right to ban something that’s completely natural ?

    • Couldn’t have put it better myself. Its unbelievable how so many people who have actually done a bit of research could confirm all that you have described above and yet cannabis is still portrayed as some sort of incredibly dangerous narcotic.
“The seizure of these plants further protects the community in which we all live and work”
Protected from what!? unless these were some new strain of man-eating cannabis plants I’m confused as to what they’re suddenly all safe from.

  2. “The seizure of these plants further protects the community in which we all live and work, and makes a serious dent into the illegal activities of those wishing to make a profit out of the misery of others.” Cause homegrowing for personal consumption is obviously the root of all the evils in our society. Idiots.

Do they regard the government approved UK drug companies (who are bottling cannabis and selling it as Sativex) as criminals as well?

  3. What gets on my goat is…
This is not real crime! and the punishments that are handed down reflect this!!!
Yet… the police and the judicial system is happy to go through the motions of pursuing the ‘home grower’ so they can meet their own performance targets and hence justify their over-inflated wages!!!.
Why don’t they tackle real crime, instead of just going for the soft easy target.
If I were a copper I’d be seriously re-evaluating why I joined the police, if all I was doing was this kind of work?!!!.
Tax payers cash thrown onto the nearest bonfire!!!.
