Man dead and another injured in motorcycle crash

POLICE  are appealing for witnesses after a fatal motorcycle crash in the early hours of the morning.

A man died after being rushed to hospital by paramedics in Magdalene, Edinburgh, and it is thought his bike hit a tree.

Two men were discovered by a passing cyclist at 5.45am lying next to a motorcycle on the walkway running from the old ‘Big W’ car park on Milton Link to The Jewel.

An 18-year-old man had leg injuries and his 20-year-old companion was found with serious injuries, police said.

The accident is thought to have happened on the Innocent walkway which runs from Edinburgh to Dalkeith.

Both men were taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, but the 20-year-old man was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police believe the motorcycle may have collided with a tree but have yet to trace anyone who saw the incident.

The Scottish Ambulance Service said three ambulances and a rapid response unit attended the scene.
