Schoolboy hit by car in morning rush hour

A TEENAGER was knocked down this morning as he made his way to school.

The 13-year-old boy is believed to have been hit by a car in Edinburgh’s Slateford Road shortly after 7.30.

Witnesses said the accident happened next to a bus stop and left the victim lying in the middle of the bus lane.

A Scottish Ambulance spokesman confirmed they had taken the youngster to hospital.

“We received a call at 7.37am to say that a 13-year-old boy had been hit by a car,” he said.

A Lothian and Borders spokeswoman said: “The boy is conscious and breathing but has sustained leg injuries.”
