BBC bosses made ginger TV star wear wig for latest series of Dr Who

GINGER TV babe Karen Gillan has revealed that BBC bosses made her don a wig for the newest instalment of the Dr Who series.

The flame-haired star, who plays character Amy Pond in Dr Who prequel series Pond Life, was forced to wear the synthetic hair piece after getting a trendy new hairstyle in real life.

The 24-year-old Scottish actress made the revelation to her 151, 564 Twitter fans after followers quizzed her online.

Gillan admitted: “Haha yes it’s true! I’m wearing a great big ginger wig in pond life. Due to fringe!”

Her comment earlier today was re-tweeted 493 times with one fan, Samantha Jane writing: “I thought something was amiss. Hilarious,” and another Stephen Bollif adding: “I had never noticed that! I feel really stupid now you’ve told me still beautiful, don’t worry.”

Mini series ‘Pond Life’ features Gillan and her husband Rory (played by Arthur Darvill) and takes Dr Who fans up to the new series’ opening episode.

Characters Amy and Rory left the sci-fi series in what show boss Stephen Moffat called a “heartbreaking” storyline earlier this year.

She will be replaced by former Emmerdale actress Jenna-Louise Coleman in the newest series.
