Youths target M8 traffic

RECKLESS youths were seen throwing stones onto Scotland’s busiest motorway.

Three youths were seen crossing the M8 as they deliberately targeted traffic travelling on the eastbound carriageway.

The incident, which took place on Wednesday evening, took place on the bridge which crossed between Blackburn and Bathgate in West Lothian.

Although no vehicles were hit, police say the incident caused a considerable amount of concern for motorists travelling on the road.

Police in West Lothian are appealing for any help in tracing those responsible.

The youths are described as between 13 to 15 years of age, with slim builds.

One is said to have been wearing a light brown hooded top, while another was in a grey hooded top.

Inspector Scott Robertson said: “This was an extremely dangerous and reckless act, carried out by those who clearly had no concern for the potential consequences of their actions.

“We want to hear from anyone who has any information that can help us trace those responsible.”
