Michelle Mone targeted by blackmailers after parking in a disabled bay

MICHELLE Mone has revealed that she was targeted by a blackmailer after parking her car on a disabled bay.

The businesswoman briefly parked her black Range Rover in the disabled bay at Costco in Springburn, Glasgow, on Monday afternoon.

The 41-year-old tweeted that she had received an email threatening to release pictures of the parked vehicle unless she paid up.

Mone, who has insisted she parked in the bay on the instructions of staff, flatly refused, saying she would never be blackmailed.

The blackmail bid was pointless in any case because another member of the public had already released pictures online.

Mone told her Twitter followers: “Received an email from someone asking me for money as they have pictures of me parked on a disabled bay, answer is NO!

“I was parked on a normal bay for 90mins then asked BY store to park there to load from 5 mins, almost empty car park. My dad is in a wheelchair so I’m well aware.”

Several of Mone’s followers on twitter jumped to her defence, saying that it was “disgusting” that someone should try and blackmail her and that “they should be ashamed of themselves.”

Answering one of her followers who asked why she was “acknowledging this scumbag,” she said: “To make a point that I will never be blackmailed.”

This is not the first time that Mone has been targeted for money.

In 2011, she revealed that she had been conned out of £1.5m by fraudsters who had claimed they would distribute her stock abroad.

Mone has previously said that she almost lost everything after this, and was even forced to remortgage the family home and use money that had been left  to her then husband Michael.

It emerged yesterday that Mone is having another kind of car trouble. The Ultimo boss is currently battling with her ex-husband, Michael, 46 over an old car which the couple gifted to Mone’s mother when they were still married.

Mone is reportedly determined to allow her mother to keep the car, despite having bought her another one just last year.

However, Michael is said to want to give the car to their 17-year-old son, Declan, who is learning to drive.
