Player of the Year nominee crosses Highland divide

Peterhead have signed former Inverness Caledonian Thistle starlet Shane Sutherland after he departed their Highland rivals Elgin City.

The 24-year-old scored 12 goals in 40 matches last term for the Borough Briggs outfit, earning a nomination for PFA Scotland League Two player of the year.

Sutherland’s fine form caught the eye of Peterhead boss Jim McInally, who has handed the bustling forward a crack at life in League One.

McInally said: “I have been chasing Shane for a while now and I am delighted that he has now put pen to paper on a one-year contract.

“It gives us great options up front together with Rory McAllister and Andy Rodgers.”
