Former Hibs captain Liam Craig has turned down a move to English non-league outfit Guiseley after departing Easter Road.

The Conference Premier side had been confident of securing the 28-year-old’s services but have now admitted defeat in their bid to lure the midfielder to Nethermoor Park.

A club statement read: “Extensive discussions did take place between the club, the player and his representatives.

“Having impressed both Liam and his team with our ambitions to progress both on and off the field, it seemed that a deal to bring Liam to Nethermoor could be agreed.

“After spending some time with his family on holiday, Liam decided that for domestic reasons, and a wish at 28 to continue in the full-time game, he would not be joining the club.
“We, of course, respect his decision and wish him well for the future.”
