Students launch online auction in bid to raise money

SCOTS students have launched a silent online auction in a bid to raise money for an art exhibition.

Graduating artists from the Master of Fine Art at the University of Dundee have donated pieces of work along with their course director.

The proceeds of the auction will go towards helping students cover some extra material costs for their Masters Show exhibition as well as providing some funds for promotion.

Course director Mary Modeen said: “These postgraduate students are an exceptional group of artists, working in many media and with many different interests.”

“But one thing they all have in common is a desire to put forward the very best work and most exciting aspects of their practices. To do this, they are all working together as an ambitious and very talented group of artists.

“Seven of these students have already won national and international awards and residencies abroad. ”

Nearly 50 students are exhibiting at the 2015 Masters Show, representing the MSc Animation & Visualisation, MFA Art & Humanities, MFA Art, Society & Publics, MSc Forensic Art and MSc Medical Art courses.

The show opens at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design with a special preview evening from 6-9pm on Friday, 21st August. The exhibition continues from August 22nd-29th and is open from 10am-8pm on weekdays and 10am-4pm at weekends.
