WORLD-famous Twinkies are hitting UK shelves in two new flavours – banana and chocolate.
The dinky cakes, famed for their soft sponge and smooth-cream filling, have enjoyed mass appeal for decades.
But now the American dream has got tastier – thanks to new additions to the UK line-up.
Twinkies, currently stocked in Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Ocado, WHSmith’s, Selfridges and other retailers, were brought to the UK by Innovative Bites.
Until now, they have just been available in the original flavour, in packs of two for £1.99 or multi-packs of ten for £7.50.
Vishal Madhu, Director of Innovative Bites Ltd, said: “Consumers insatiable appetite for all things American is growing, so it made perfect sense to bring Twinkies to the UK – not just in its original guise, but in new flavours too.”
Known for their creamy, golden goodness the Twinkie is more than just a cake – it’s an American institution.
Since launching in 1930, the delicious cake treat has regularly featured on the silver screen in classic movies such as Die Hard, Ghostbusters and Deer Hunter – and more recently in Zombieland and The Last Man on Earth.
