Injury blow for Scotland starlet Ryan Fraser

Scotland under-21 starlet Ryan Fraser has been ruled out for at least two months after suffering knee ligament damage on international duty.

Fraser, 21, has been in scintillating form for Ipswich Town this season after joining on loan from Premier League new boys Bournemouth.

The former Aberdeen winger has scored four goals in eight appearances this season and his dynamic displays saw him named Championship young player of the month for August.

However, he suffered medial ligament damage during training with Scotland’s under-21 side last Friday and has seen his bright start to the season cruelly curtailed.

As well as being a hammer-blow for Fraser and Ipswich, it will impact on Scotland’s hopes of reaching the European Under-21 Championships, with the wide-man now set to miss next month’s clash with Ukraine.

Fraser, who was recently rewarded with a new three-year contract by Bournemouth, attempted to look on the bright side following the diagnosis.

He tweeted: “Two months isn’t great but could of been a lot worse! Will be back in no time.”
