Scotland internationalist Liam Bridcutt is wanted by Leeds United manager Steve Evans on loan.

The Sunderland midfielder has not featured for the Black Cats so far this term but Leeds boss Evans is keen to recruit the 26-year-old on a temporary deal as the Yorkshire outfit look to breathe fresh life into their Championship play-off bid.

Evans, who could face competition from Cardiff City and Reading for the playmaker, said: “I spoke to Liam on Friday and the conversation went extremely well.”

Bridcutt followed former Brighton manager Gus Poyet to the Stadium of Light in January 2014 in a £2.5 million transfer and has made a total of 37 appearances for the club.

His only outing in a Scotland jersey came in the 2-0 World Cup qualifying defeat to Serbia in March 2013.
