Willie Collum hoping for the Swede dreams that evaded Celtic in Malmo

Willie Collum will tomorrow seek to enjoy a more successful night in Sweden than Celtic achieved after being appointed to referee Malmo’s Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain.

Celtic crashed out of the Champions League at the play-off stage after a 2-0 defeat in Malmo resulted in a 4-3 aggregate loss back in August.

Collum has been handed another high-profile European assignment

Collum will take charge of Malmo’s home encounter with PSG, who will progress to the knock-out phase if they win or with a draw should Shakhtar Donetsk fail to beat Real Madrid.

Malmo, who have managed just one win, against Shakhtar, in four group outings, need a win to have any hope of a top-two finish.

Collum will be assisted by fellow SPFL referees Bobby Madden and John Beaton, with Alastair Mather as fourth official and Frank Connor and Irish whistler Damien MacGraith completing his team at the Swedbank Stadion.
