Dumbarton have signed highly-rated Rangers winger Tom Walsh on loan until the end of the season.

The starlet made his senior debut for the Ibrox outfit at the age of just 16, coming on as a substitute against Stirling Albion back in 2012, and has gone onto make 15 appearances for the Gers.

He spent three months on loan with Stenhousemuir last term, scoring twice in 10 outings for the Warriors – and Rangers boss Mark Warburton is keen for the player to get first-team football again.

It is understand the Sons fought off competition from Championship rivals Livingston for Walsh.

The 19-year-old tweeted: “Happy to have signed on loan to Dumbarton until the end of the season, looking forward to getting some much needed game time.”

Dumbarton boss Stevie Aitken added: “I’m delighted to have Tom’s services. He’s been on our list of targets for a number of weeks and we had to fight off stiff competition for his signature.”
