JK Rowling behind on book because of indecisive pet dog

JK ROWLING is badly behind on her new novel – because of her pet dog.

The Harry Potter author is currently working on the latest Cormoran Strike installment, which she pens under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith.

But the author has revealed that she keeps getting interrupted by her rescued greyhound, Sapphire, who cannot decide whether to be in the same room as her or not.

Rowling has to spend precious writing time constantly getting up to open the door.

Rowling wrote: “I’d have finished this book months ago if my dog could only make up her mind which side of the door she’d like to be on. #STAY”

Fans responded by posting pictures of their own animals getting in the way of work.

Ailis Steele, uploaded a hilarious picture of her chocolate labrador stood halfway through a door, with the caption: “After Jasper here jumped through the screen door we no longer have that problem.”

Another follower shared a photograph of her fluffy pooch staring up at a wooden door, captioned: “Constant!”

One die-hard fan with the Twitter name ‘LoonyLunarLupin’ uploaded a snap of her dog’s head across her laptop, making it impossible to work.

And it appears that dogs aren’t the only animals to get in the way.

Another picture shows a cat looking up through a see-through door, pleading to be let into the house.

The owner, named ‘Wizards and Whatnot’, wrote: “Cats are just as bad. Doesn’t matter which side of the door they’re on, it’s bound to be wrong.”

Another follower, Vicki Clements, seems to have such a frustrating time with her dog that she even owns a mug depicting the everyday battle.

A photograph shows the bold lettering across the side of the mud, which reads: “Plan for today: Let the dog in. Let the dog out. Let the dog in. Let the dog out. Let the dog in. Let the dog out.”

Rowling first adopted Sapphire back in 2007, after she took her family to Greyhound Rescue Fife to see if any animals caught their eye.

They fell in love with the animal and decided to take her home with them – but not before donating £1,000 to the shelter.

She also owns a Jack Russell Terrier named Butch.
