Allan Johnston to give Dunfermline fringe stars chance to earn new deals

DUNFERMLINE manager Allan Johnston has promised to give his fringe players the chance to win new deals as the League One champions see out the campaign.

The Pars boss made six changes to his side for Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Forfar Athletic, dropping the likes of top scorer Faissal El Bakhtaoui, captain Andy Geggan and former Motherwell defender Craig Reid to the bench to give others a chance.

Former Kilmarnock and Hearts midfielder Scott Robinson, who recently joined on amateur terms, and freed Hibs youngster Conner Duthie both made their debuts, with ex-Rangers star Rhys McCabe also making a rare start.

Johnston has his work cut out in planning for next term as the entire East End Park first-team is out of contract this summer – as he is also – and so far only keeper Sean Murdoch and full-back Ryan Williamson, as well as youth goalie Cammy Gill, have penned fresh terms.

He told www.dafc.co.uk: “I know what the boys who have been here all season and play regularly in games offer.

“We just have to freshen things up and let other boys have a chance to see if they are going to get contracts for next year.”
