Former Scotland striker Duncan Ferguson has tipped England for success at Euro 2016.

The Everton coach reckons manager Roy Hodgson has assembled a squad that can collect the country’s first piece of silverware since the World Cup triumph 50 years ago.

England have been grouped with Russia, Slovakia and Wales but seven-times capped Ferguson believes they can go all the way in France.

He said: “I fancy England, I fancy England to do it.

“I think they’ve got a good team, I think they’re a fresh team, they’re young.

“They’ll have plenty of legs in the team and I think they could do it this year.”

Ferguson is looking forward to seeing how all of Everton’s Euro 2016 representatives get on at the tournament.

John Stones and Ross Bartley are in the England squad, Seamus Coleman, James McCarthy and Aiden McGeady are with Ireland, while Belgium have Romelu Lukaku and Switzerland can call on Shani Tarashaj.

Ex-Rangers and Dundee United marksman Ferguson, speaking to Everton TV, added: “John Stones and Ross Bartley are great players and I’m sure they’ve got a massive part to play, I’m really looking forward to watching them.

“I’ll look out for the Everton players and hope they do well and I’m looking forward to seeing how England play, I think they’ve got a right good chance this year.

“We’ve (Everton) got an international squad, a very good squad so I’ll keep and eye on all the players and look forward to watching them.”
