RAITH Rovers manager Gary Locke has allayed fears of an injury to on-loan Rangers youngster Jordan Thompson.

Thompson was substituted 58 minutes in to Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Falkirk, despite turning in an encouraging performance.

The 19-year-old missed the shock IRN-BRU Cup defeat to Forfar Athletic 10 days ago because he was on duty with Northern Ireland under-21s and is already proving a key figure for the Stark’s Park side.

And Locke insists the youngster, who has was replaced by fellow Ibrox youngster Scott Roberts against Falkirk, will be fit and available again for Saturday’s trip to face on-form Queen of the South.

He said: “Jordan had a long week and did a lot of travelling.

“He was away with Northern Ireland, over to Macedonia, and because we were losing 1-0 at the time I felt we had to go for it.

“So we had every forward player we had available on the pitch, but unfortunately it didn’t happen.”
