Former England Under-21 manager Stuart Pearce insists Moussa Dembele is one of the hottest young prospects in Europe after Manchester United were linked with the Celtic striker.
The Frenchman notched his 15th goal of an impressive debut season for the Hoops in Wednesday’s 4-0 Premiership victory at Ross County.
English giants United are reported to have dispatched a scout to watch the 20-year-old in action at Victoria Park.
Dembele has also shone in the Champions League and Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers likened the marksman to former Chelsea favourite Didier Drogba after watching the player score a double in last month’s 3-3 draw with Manchester City.
The France Under-21 internationalist signed a four-year deal at Parkhead during the summer but former England and Nottingham Forest left-back Pearce reckons Dembele could be lured back south of the border at the end of the season.
Pearce, speaking to Sky Sports, said: “It will be no surprise at the end of this season if he does make his way back down to England.
“We’ve seen how all the big clubs around Europe mop up the talent and he is one of the most talented young kids out there at the moment. He is scoring goals and playing football.
“Over the last two or three years, Dembele and (Patrick) Roberts, who they have on loan there from City, have been the most exciting talents out there.”
