Dembele goes the extra mile to make young Celtic fan’s birthday dream come true

CELTIC star Moussa Dembele, made one you fan’s dreams come true by inviting him to meet him at a match after previously missing him at the training ground.

8-year-old, Liam Dolan, thought the chance to meet his idol had gone when he didn’t get to see the striker at the club’s Lennoxtown base in East Dunbartonshire.

Liam got the chance to meet stars such as captain Scott Brown and manager Brendan Rodgers, whilst centre-back Kolo Toure even sang happy birthday but Dembele was the man he really wanted to see.

The Frenchman, thought to be on around £20,000 a week, was so sorry about letting the youngster down that he sent a personal message to Liam’s family, saying he’d be delighted to meet him after the weekend’s game against Inverness.

A delighted Liam met Moussa after Saturday’s comfortable 3-0 victory over the Highlanders and received a signed top and boots from the in-form frontman.

Liam’s proud mother, Siobhan Kelly, 28-year-old research scientist, shared photographs of the pair meeting on Twitter and wrote: “Dembele invited my son to meet him for his birthday, as he missed him at training.

“Thank you for making a little boy very happy. Liam was delighted . Dembele is a gentleman and we appreciate his kind gesture.”

The heart-warming images show a beaming Liam alongside his hero in the foyer at Celtic Park as well as the Adidas boots and home strip he’d kindly signed.

A mortified Dembele made sure young Liam was sent an invite to meet him after missing him at the training ground.

The message read: “We saw that your son couldn’t get to see Moussa yesterday. He had to rush to go to the mosque and to go to an appointment.

“He usually stops after every training session, even after the home and away games to take pictures and sign autographs with the fans.

“It’s unfortunate to know your son couldn’t meet for his birthday and we are really sorry about this. Will he come to the stadium today?

“If yes, we’ll be pleased to meet him after the game and wish him a happy birthday.”

Speaking today (MON), Siobhan said: “Liam visited Celtic training ground as a treat for his 8th birthday.

“He greeted the players on arrival to the complex and he was allowed to watch their training session.

“Kolo Toure sang happy birthday to him which was the highlight of his visit but his aim was to meet his hero, Moussa Dembele.

“Unfortunately, Moussa wasn’t available and seemed in a rush. Therefore, Liam was unable to get his signature to complete his Celtic top.”

She continued: “Liam was upset and didn’t understand why Moussa was unavailable.

“I was sent a private message from there, asking me to come to the stadium that day. In the end, we got the missing signature and the one that mattered to Liam the most

“Liam will never forget the kind gesture from Moussa Dembele and it has been proven that Celtic Football Club really do care about their fans.”

It appears the 20-year-old goal machine can do no wrong at the moment, following his hat-trick against Rangers and goals in the Champion’s League.

His form has been so good that it’s rumours some of football’s biggest clubs, such as Manchester United and Real Madrid are preparing mega money bids for the striker.
