Firm forced to suspend “dildo on the pitch” bets

SO many football fans bet on a dildo being thrown on to the pitch during a premier league match last night, that bookmakers were forced suspend betting

Bookmaker Paddy Power originally offered odds of 50-1 for a sex toy to be thrown on to the field of play during Chelsea’s 1-1 draw against Liverpool last night.

But they were forced to cut the odds after vast amounts of money were placed on the bet, fearing a fan had sneaked one into Anfield.

Bookmaker Paddy Power originally offered odds of 50-1 for a sex toy to be thrown on to the field of play during Chelsea’s 1-1 draw against Liverpool last night.

Eventually, after the odds were cut to 33-1 and later 14-1, they suspended betting.

No dildo was thrown on to the pitch during the game.

Paddy Power originally tweeted at 7pm, an hour before kick off, stating: “We’ve got some [transfer] deadline day specials onsite, including 14/1 for a dildo to be thrown onto the pitch in LFC v CFC.”

They later tweeted: “Worth noting that the dildo bet WAS 50/1 but has been cut to 14/1 after a load of bets on it. Someone going to the game perhaps is on….”

At 7.10pm, fifty minutes before kick-off, they tweeted: “We’ve had to take this one down. Well done if you’re on, seems like someone knows something!”

Twitter users went into a frenzy asking questions about the bet, and making jokes.

Aiden Scott said: “Before placing this bet you should think long and hard.”

Brad Wain added: “Does said dildo have to be televised on the pitch?”

Benny Horan wrote: “It’s about to be raining dildos, the Scousers are not daft gutted Imissed that bet.”

Ross Tollard joked: “If John Terry gets subbed on, are you paying out Paddy?”

Yesterday was transfer deadline day for English clubs. Dildos have become syonymous with the day after a reporter was attacked with a purple sex toy whilst reporting on the day’s business back in 2014.
