Stranraer chairman Iain Dougan insists he is still waiting to find out whether Aberdeen will step up their interest in highly-rated midfielder Kyle Turner.

The 19-year-old trained with the Dons for a week in February and Pittodrie manager Derek McInnes is thought to be keen on the youngster.

But with Turner, who made 37 appearances last season, contracted to the Blues until summer 2019, Dougan admits no formal offer has been received by the League One side as yet.

Dougan said: “Aberdeen have shown an interest in Kyle and he was been up there for a week’s training.

“Our manager Stevie Farrell has spoken to Derek McInnes and it has been indicated that Derek likes Kyle.

“But there has been no bid submitted as yet.

“We’re not desperate to get rid of Kyle but from the boy’s point of view, if he can move to bigger and better things then we have to be realistic.

“We put him on a long-term contract because we knew his potential.”
