Technical trouble turns sign for Morrisons into “Morons”

A HILARIOUS but unfortunate power blip in a Morrisons store sign has now changed the illuminated shop name to read ‘Morons’.

Three letters in the middle of the sign are currently out of power meaning that in the dark the sign visibly changes.

The sign, at a store in Bulwell, Nottingham, has been captured by amused shoppers and commuters and posted on social media.

Phil Gorewoda, a 27 year old bus driver from Bulwell posted a picture of the sign on Twitter and Facebook.

He said: “I was on the phone to my misses and I had just got into the car and was waiting for the phone to connect to bluetooth and I looked up andIi just started laughing and said ya gotta be kidding me, and the misses was like what you laughing at?”

Three letters out of power gave the sign a completely different meaning

He said: “People have seen the funny side, a few of my facebook friends did, some also shared it.”

He said: “I was shopping at the time, i only popped in for some egg noodles, sweet chili sauce and some wrigley’s peppermint chewing gum haha.”

He took the picture of the sign on the 27th of January at about 5pm, but another picture surfaced online last Friday.

Emma Sandford, 27, was on the tram from Hucknall to Nottingham on Friday morning when she captured a video of the sign and posted a screenshot on Facebook. She said: “It’s defo funny, been like that for daaaays.”

The sign had been the same way for days, with other social media users sharing snaps of the hilarious change

Emma was on her way to work in the city centre at about 7am. The tram can be seen packed with busy commuters before it passes the store and the ‘Morons’ sign becomes visible, illuminated in the dark.

Other users reacted, Ashley Spate wrote: “It’s been like that for ages, makes me chuckle every time I go past.” with a laughing emoji.

Jamie Andrews wrote: “More reasons to shop at MORONS” and 3 laughing emojis, poking fun at the old Morrisons strapline ‘More reasons to shop at Morrisons’.

Morrisons Facebook page commented on Emma’s picture on Friday saying: “Oops! Thanks Emma, I have fed this back to the store manager.” and a smiley emoji.
