Lady of the Glen Launches Biggest Outrun Ever

WHISKY bottlers Lady of the Glen has revealed their latest outrun is their biggest to date, yielding around 2000 bottles from 12 casks.

The independently-run firm based in Edinburgh have brought out seven new single malts spanning across their large numbers.

This release will offer customers an insight into the unique flavour profiles that come from maturing in three first-fill tawny, ruby port and Pedro Ximenez sherry casks.

Gregor Hannah, founder of Hannah Whisky Merchants who launched Lady of the Glen in 2012, has sourced quality oak casks from family-owned bodegas in Portugal for the further maturation of Lady of the Glen’s portfolio of whisky.

Gregor said: “We place the utmost importance on understanding the provenance of every cask we source for the maturation process.

“Last year we re-racked a parcel of stock in these casks, and now we are ready to release, much sooner than originally anticipated.”

Spirit matured in tawny port casks tends to exhibit caramel, toffee and nut flavours whereas customers can expect to experience notes of red berry fruits from the ruby port batch release.

The releases matured in Pedro Ximenez casks take on the characteristics of this high-quality sherry invoking intense sweetness, and notes of chocolate, coffee, licorice and spices.

The single malts used all hail from excellent Speyside distilleries which were originally matured in first-fill bourbon hogsheads.

The new releases are:

  • Glenlossie Vintage 2010 with Tawny Port Finish
  • Glenlossie Vintage 2010 with Ruby Port Finish
  • Glen Elgin Vintage 2008 ex Tawny Port Cask Finish
