Top Transfer News

While the Scottish Premiership may have less flexibility for transfers given the average budget of the clubs, there are still plenty of transfers taking place. Here is a list of the top news concerning Scottish transfers this summer (listed in order of transfer fee).

  1. Christopher Jullien to Celtic – £7 million

Celtic being the powerhouse of Scottish football has completed a deal for Christopher Jullien, a defender from the French club Toulouse. The French star Jullien has been brought in to strengthen the Celtic defence on a 4-year deal, and his inbound transfer to Celtic has been the highest in monetary value so far this summer for the Scottish Premier League.

  1. Filip Helander to Rangers – £3.5 million

Rangers have completed the signing of Helander this month. The Swedish defender has completed the move from Bologna on a 4-year deal. This transfer marks the second highest (monetary value) inbound player move this summer. Helander currently has 10 caps for Sweden, and is bringing plenty of experience to the club despite being just 26 years old.

  1. Boli Bolingoli Mbombo to Celtic – £3 million

Mbombo, the young Belgian striker has been brought in from Rapid Wien for a fee of £3 million. He has been signed on a 4-year deal, and has proclaimed that he agreed the Celtic move since “he came to make history”. Given these claims one cannot doubt the young strikers ambition, and many Celtic fans are excited to see what he can do for the club.

  1. Hatem Ebd Elhamed to Celtic – £2 million

There have been rumours surrounding this transfer for weeks, but now the Israel international has been confirmed as a Celtic player. The defender joins the club on an initial four-year deal, and he has already shown great personal pride in making this move.

  1. George Edmundson to Rangers – £650,000

Steven Gerrard’s Rangers have successfully bid for Edmundson from Oldham. Edmundson had actually refused several other offers from clubs including the likes of Portsmouth since he wanted to play under Gerrards’ guidance. He joins the club on a 4-year deal, and will kick things off for the club this August.

It comes as no surprise that the two giants of the Scottish Premiership are also taking charge of the summer transfer market. Rangers or Celtic has completed all the top 5 transfers, which isn’t much of a shock for many fans.

But with these sorts of transfers taking place, could it be another Celtic vs. Rangers showdown for the Scottish Premiership crown? Or will an underdog rise to ruffle some feathers along the way? We will find out over the coming months!
