Hero Hoy’s party hangover cure

By Michael MacLeod

CHRIS Hoy is hosting an Australian themed party for family and friends – but he’s saddling up on the wagon to avoid a hangover.

The quadruple gold Olympian has hired out all four floors of top London restaurant Mews of Mayfair.

The Aussie themed bash is a send-off for the flying Scot before he goes Down-Under to train – but he won’t be touching booze.

Instead, Hoy, 32, has asked cocktail mixers to create a special non-alcoholic drink exclusively for him, so he doesn’t have a hangover when jets off to begin training the next day.

The trendy restaurant is a regular haunt of superstars Elton John, Goldie Hawn and X-Factor judge Dannii Minogue.

The generous biking champ is said to have asked bar staff to keep the champagne flowing all night for his guests, including girlfriend Sarra Kemp, 28.

One of Hoy’s pals said: “This will be the first time since winning three golds at the Olympics that he’s really let his hair down.”

Last month the Edinburgh rider revealed he was swapping saddles for sandy beaches to escape his busy schedule, which sees him spending five months of the year abroad.

He treated himself to a beachfront boutique at Laguna Beach in Natal, on the north-eastern coast of South America.

The Scots biker, 32, hopes to visit the £220,000 one-bedroom place in the sun at least once a year with his lawyer girlfriend Miss Kemp.

Hoy said: “My life consists of a gruelling daily training schedule and when you couple that with all the travel, the competition and my other engagements, I need somewhere special to go and relax.

“I did some research and decided to dip my toe in the water.”

“Brazil’s year-round warm climate means I can go there at any time to fit in with my training schedule.
