IT WAS a double celebration yesterday when identical twins graduated from the same course as each other.
Agnieszka and Katarzyna Cynert, both 23, collected their degrees in Energy and Environmental Engineering from Edinburgh Napier University.
And the bright pair achieved impressive grades, with a 2:1 for Agnieszka and a 1st for Katarzyna.
It was when on holiday in the summer of 2005 that the girls decided they loved Edinburgh so much that they wanted to stay.
So they both enrolled on the same course as they share not just looks but a passion for the environment.
And they want to stay on even longer, with both girls hoping to work in energy conservation or environmental energy.
Katarzyna said: “Both Agnieszka and I are very passionate about the environment and we have always been interested in maths and engineering, so the Environmental Engineering degree was the perfect combination.
“We heard this programme through word of mouth and when we both were accepted, we were absolutely delighted.”
And Agnieszka said that they were impressed by how much support they were given from the university.
She said: “We have really enjoyed studying at Edinburgh Napier, this is fantastic city and we want to stay and work here.
“We were impressed by the way Napier welcomes foreign students.”
And at the same ceremony, world famous designer Sir Terry Farrell was awarded an honorary degree from the university for his work.
Having designed many iconic buildings, the celebrated architect received an Honorary Doctorate of Design.
Farrell is also responsible for the egg cups that adorn the TV-am building in Camden – a trademark of his imaginative and playful style.
