POLICE are hunting two boozed-up yobs after a 52-year-old man was assaulted and robbed in a “frightening ordeal”.

The men rushed at the victim from behind and threatened him as he was walking along Ellen’s Glen Road towards Lasswade Road in Edinburgh’s leafy Liberton area.

They then forced the victim to hand over his wallet and phone, before fleeing the scene.

The man was shaken but injured, and provided the police with a detailed description of the attackers.

The first man – who was described as smelling strongly of alcohol – is white, in his mid 20s, around 5ft 10ins tall, with an athletic build, had short fair hair and was clean-shaven.He was wearing a brown textile jacket and jeans, spoke with a local accent.

The second suspect is described as white, in his mid 20s, of medium build, with a thin face, had brown hair, may have had a short beard, and also spoke with a local accent.

A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Police said: “The suspects have put the victim through a frightening ordeal, although not injuring him.

“We have a solid description of the men and are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area and may have information that can help us track their movements, both before and after the robbery.

“Similarly, anyone with other information relevant to our enquiries is asked to contact police immediately.”
