A CHINESE tourist on holiday in Scotland has gone missing after leaving her hotel in the early hours of the morning.

Wenqian Zong, 25, was on a coach tour of the UK and was last seen in Edinburgh on Monday morning.

She returned to her hotel on Sunday night but was caught on CCTV leaving the Marriot on Glasgow Road in the early hours of Monday morning.

The alarm was raised when she failed to rejoin the tour group on Monday morning.

Police are hoping that people may have seen Weqian since she left the hotel and can help track her down.

The tourist, from Nanjing in China, is described as being 5ft 6ins tall of slim build with brown eyes and fair skin.

When she was spotted on CCTV in the foyer of the hotel at 2.15am on Monday morning she was wearing a distinctive jacket with black and white horizontal stripes.

A police spokesman said: “Wenqian arrived at the Marriot Hotel on Sunday night, and she was last seen on CCTV leaving the hotel around 2.15am on Monday.

“She failed to rejoin her group later that morning, and was reported missing.

“We want to speak with Wenqian to make sure that she is ok, and we are appealing for her to make contact with police as soon as possible.

“Similarly, we want to speak to anyone who thinks they may have seen her since the start of the week, or anyone else who has information regarding her whereabouts.”

Anyone who has any information about Wenqian is asked to contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3131 or the charity Crimestoppers.
